Australian Shepherds Jenka and Rita | Studio Dog Photography Session

Some dogs take a little while to settle into a studio environment. Others arrive, assess the situation and immediately decide they’re ready for their close-up. Australian Shepherd mother and daughter duo, Jenka and Rita, definitely fell into the latter category.

Their arrival was full of enthusiasm and curiosity. After a quick inspection of the studio and a chance to familiarise themselves with their surroundings, both girls were ready to begin. Perching confidently atop the posing blocks and stools, they seemed completely at home in front of the camera.

As anyone familiar with the breed will know, Australian Shepherds are intelligent, energetic dogs with a strong desire to work alongside their owners. Jenka and Rita are wonderful examples of everything that makes the breed so special. Their bright expressions, attentive nature and willingness to try anything made them an absolute joy to photograph.

Away from the studio, these talented girls lead busy lives. Both compete in the breed ring and also enjoy working trials and Dog Sport UK activities - a versatile family indeed!   Their enthusiasm for learning and working together was evident throughout the session.

One of the things I loved most about photographing them was their infectious joie de vivre. Every pose was approached with enthusiasm, every request met with willingness and every moment seemed filled with enjoyment. It’s impossible not to smile when spending time with dogs who embrace life so wholeheartedly.

Sessions like these remind me why I love studio dog photography. Beyond creating beautiful portraits, it’s an opportunity to capture the unique personality, spirit and relationship that make each dog special.
