A Rottweiler with Presence: Photographing Ramos and His Boston Terrier Companions

Some dogs command attention the moment they appear - Ramos is one of them!

Powerful yet composed, athletic yet serene, this magnificent Rottweiler possesses the unmistakable presence for which the breed is so admired. Before our portrait session began, however, he had rather different priorities…

Before settling into his modelling session, this stunning boy needed to let off steam, racing around the field like an express train, yet with the effortless agility and grace of a gazelle. Once his exuberance had subsided, he approached his portrait session with an almost insouciant confidence.

Under the expert tutelage of his lovely owner Gilly, Ramos happily took up any position asked of him and just exuded all the qualities for which the Rottweiler is renowned.  To lay recumbent on a chaise, display his agility skills at full pelt over a log or when conducting an imaginary orchestra while balancing effortlessly in a begging position, displayed his sheer abdominal core strength.

This calm, confident and oh so handsome lad just kept on giving despite the unexpected heat of early morning.

It’s of little surprise that this boy has two breed show Challenge Certificates to his name and has qualified for life at Crufts.  Ramos has also passed Working Test 1, 2 and 3, competes in UK Dog Sports and is currently in training for obedience.

Although Ramos naturally steals the limelight with his imposing stature, no portrait of this family would be complete without Fletch and Lelu. At twelve-and-a-half years of age, both embraced their session with quiet dignity despite failing sight and hearing.

At 10 months old Lelu won RCC at Windsor Championship Show and was also the first Boston to win the Puppy Stakes.  Fletch won the Veteran Class at Crufts in 2024 and also competed in beginners obedience during his youth.

Watching them work alongside their younger companion was a gentle reminder that character never fades with age. Their enthusiasm, trust and willingness to participate made them every bit as memorable as the handsome youngster standing proudly between them.
