Meet Jazz – An Australian Shepherd with Talent to Match His Good Looks
It was a pleasure to photograph Jazz in the New Forest recently, another handsome Australian Shepherd from the Amberslade stable. Regular visitors to my blog may remember his mother and sister from a recent studio session, so welcoming another member of this wonderful family in front of my camera was a real treat.
Jazz may be at the beginning of his competitive career, but he's already proving himself to be a rising star. Currently training in UK Dog Sport and Competitive Obedience, he's made an impressive start by taking home a rosette from every show he's competed at so far. With his enthusiasm, athleticism and willingness to work, it's easy to see why.
Unlike many of my portrait sessions, these photographs weren't planned. Jazz was simply waiting to begin his training, and I spotted the perfect opportunity for a few quick portraits. Sometimes the best images come from the most spontaneous moments.
A fallen log provided the ideal natural prop, although for Jazz it was little more than a hop! With such an attentive and cooperative model, the entire mini shoot lasted no more than five minutes, proving that you don't always need hours to create memorable portraits when dog and photographer work together.
I hope you'll agree that Jazz is every bit as handsome as he is talented. I look forward to following his progress in the competition ring and wish him every success for the future.
If you'd like to capture your own dog's unique personality, whether they're a successful competition dog, a much-loved family companion, or simply happiest exploring the countryside, I'd love to help create beautiful portraits you'll treasure for years to come.
